Desert Nights: A VS2005 Color Scheme

Link. November 12, 2007. Comments [6]. Posted in: VS Color Scheme

This is my latest Visual Studio 2005 Color Scheme: Desert Nights. This one features a dark background that isn't quite black (it has a slight hint towards brownish/greenish), and colors that stand from the background but without being too bright (most of them, at least).

Code:

Desert Nights - Code

XML:

Desert Nights - Xml

I've been using this one for the past three or four weeks and I'm liking it quite a bit so far, and it is certainly different from the ones I've made before. Download.

Update: Download Visual Studio 2008 version here.

Very nice - I use something quite like it.
As the creator of Hot or Not for IDE scheme's, http://idehotornot.ning.com I invite you to toss it in the mix for folks to check out.

Sure, it's a small number of people who care about IDE color schemes - but you are one of them.

Matt,

Thanks, I'm aware of the site, but to be honest, I find it somewhat uncomfortable, and hate the lack of screenshots of a proper size to illustrate the schemes!

I like your IDE, being into darkened color schemes myself. Are you aware of http://www.darksideofvisualstudio.net/ ?

Yes, I'm aware of the site, but haven't seen there much else than just the owner's own scheme, which I don't quite like myself :-) It will be interesting too see if it is developed further, though.

OK, I've just tried it and I like the color combination (mine was even darker and with more contrast) but the font... Courier New at 15 points? Maybe for a presentation is OK, but for daily work is way too big for me, so I switched it to Monaco at 8, using your colors. I'll try it for a few days.

Picacodigos: Actually, the font isn't courier new. The one I use is Damien Guard's Envy Code R VS (http://damieng.com/blog/2007/09/25/envy-code-r-update). The reason I use it at 15pt is that I work on a 15.4" laptop screen at 1920x1200, so if I were to use a 10pt font I'd go blind soon ;)
